Thats the one, a few people were after it when it was on the bay. Someone actually offered £1500 over the phone. I didnt pay the £1000 but wasnt that far under it. If it has to go, ill make sure i PM you.

Thanks for the comments, i didnt want to ruin the car so wheels and suspension are just bolt off and apart from the stickers its all OEM

Yeah better had send me a PM. I know a few peeps were after it but i called just as you had driven away. Then i saw another which had only done 26,000miles but it was a metalic blue one. Went to view it and i wasn't too impressed so i left it. Had to settle for a low miler Mk2 coupe instead but i found a nice one so its all good. Glad it went to a good owner. To change the later model polos is fair enough. To muck about with a Mk1 is just not on.

That looks so right though. Very well done!!

no worries, doesn't have to be the future, but that depends how badly you want it. 8-)

Hmm depends how much it will cost and what engine and brakes it has ..

I could be very intrested and could make a very good offer sometime at the start of next year

This is the only polo that would swing me away from a Mk1 Golf , Caddy or Mk2 Golf me thinks ..

I did say i wouldnt buy another "crappy polo"

This car needs to be kept like it is .. On exterior / interior anyway .. How MINT !

in terms of engine and brakes.....its all standard. although I've done all the timing and it will get up to 80. so i dont think its lost much power at all.

Thanks for the compliment, i thought youd sworn not to get another crappy polo? lol 8-)

Just thought id update you guys on the car.

So it has been unwrapped last weekend. Started on the key so that was nice, I started to go around the car and look at everything, the standard double check hoses, clips etc etc.

Well glad i did take the time out to look over it as the hose from the fuel pump was bubbling away so looks like after 28 years the hose inside the braiding has got shagged.

Not a big problem. AFter posting the question here in Tech help i got a tip off from 86C that GSF do hose.

Went down there and they have some metal braided hose. So I've got a cut off to make sure its right.

SO plan this weekend is to change all the fuel lines in the bay and bring some bring under the hood.

I was in Halfords the other day and overheard some lads talking about metal braided hoses, and using their calculations I think with the metal braided hoses in my bay it should give me at least 100BHP.

looking forward to seeing this blasting around again dude!

you and me both mate! but have to get it fixed first, fuel leaks cause fire! :smoke:

Got some new rims too, so hopefully should be able to get it lower.

yeh mate you should easily see 100bhp with braided hoses, if not more

you need a flux capacitor to, that'll bring you near 150bhp lol

sounds like good plans tej, 28 years for a hose isnt too bad is it

where you get this Flux capacitor?? would halfords have it on the shelves??

lucky the car only does 84mp because if hollywood has showed me anything, its if you do 88mph you could go back in time!

Loving this car, really nicely and sympathetically done, awesome colour and lovely interior and wheels :)

Wish mine was that mint when i bought it, and had chrome bumpers :(

I really shouldn't be viewing this MK1 gallery. I'm as happy with my MK2 as i was 4 years ago,but this early mandarin is the strongest argument for the 'grass being greener' that I've seen for a while. I'm not feelin the stickers and those Starmags are too wide for me (ATS Classics are common for a reason, and in 6x13,were made for this car),but there'll be a picture of this car on my calendar wall.

thanks Mikey for the compliment, I have to agree with you on the wheels, they are to wide and that's why I am selling them. The new wheels have arrived so just waiting for tyres so i can fit them on. The stickers are staying for now although a few of them will get changed for this year.

Just to get ready for the show season. 8-)

ok so the starmags are now sold, the new owner will hopefully be picking them up on tuesday, so it seems we are back on track and just in time for summer. now just need the new wheels on, the MOT done, tax and insurance and she will be back on the road! woo hoo

ill get some pics up of my new super posh fuel line, its not that i haven't had the time, its just I've been lazy and in this weather i keep meaning to work on the car but i find myself in the pub! oops

  • 2 weeks later...

Woo well as of this morning the polo is road legal!!

Passed the MOT without any notes (had to swap the black plates over) but they said everything is a ok!

Just waiting or tyres this week and then ill be crusing around.

Checked the MOTS

i bought the car back in 2006, the first MOT i did in 2007 had 400 miles and now the second had under 900miles, so in two years I've clocked less than 1300miles, lol. I need to drive it more this year.
