i have got quite a bad scratch on the side of my polo. any ideas on a cheap way to get it looking good. t cut covers it but you can still see the mark.

run a touch up pen in there a few times to fill the scratch with paint, let it dry and keep filling it up until it is proud of the surface, allow 24hrs to dry properly hen cut back level with the surface

What do you mean by cut back? using what.. .so so confused!

Are they expensive? i got a few deep scratches that need doing!

Cutting back using very fine grades of wet and dry to get the surface flat and smooth again then finishing it off with something like Auto Glym Paint Remover / Meguires X-Scratch / T-Cut / G3. Even with fine grades of wet and dry you can still see scratches so you need one of the scratch removers above to get rid of them.

Someone did a really good guide on E38 on how to tidy up scratches and chips in your bonnet.

I mask the panel,wet flat the scratched area,then dust the wet-flatted area (and that area only,not to the masking tape) carefully with a rattle can. Less is more. After 24hrs,t-cut the whole panel.

If its such a deep scratch that it wont wet-flat out,dust a couple of coats of primer over it before wet flatting. That'll fill the groove,before laying the thin film of fresh paint over.

it depends where and what the damage is

the only cars you could cover using the touch in method are solid coulours any metalics will stand out from miles away

i was about to say, all of the above suggestions will only work with flat colours, put T cut anywhere near metallic or peralescent base coat and it'll go to rat shit
