Lowering front of early mk1, Changing Hubs e.t.c anyone know???

Featured Replies

Right- I should be lowering the front end of the mk1 this week using the world famous Philj kit :-D

But iv heard people on here mention that the hubs have to be changed on early mk1's???? Is this true??

Something to do with the diameter of the damper not fitting?? I dont know!

Do i need to get some mk2/3 hubs????

And if i need the hubs do i need the steering rack??? Iv heard people mention that too!

Is it worth taking the calipers off the mk2/3 hubs? or are they the same???

Is it worth up grading to vented G40 disks + hubs? I have no servo and not sure if G40's have bigger brake cylinders?

Will the mk1 cylinder cope with g4 calipers?

Any help would be great

Mk2/3 hubs. Mk1 steering arms and rack.

Mk1 calipers wont go on mk2/3 hubs, so you need the later calipers, might as well upgrade to vented/g40 discs as its bolt on. Brake cylinders are different as the g40s have a bias regulator.

M/C will be fine. Def a worthwhile upgrade.
