So I've replaced the rubber donut in the rear engine mount on my Mk2 Polo, but there's a bit of the metal tube showing below and I think the engine is dropped a bit.

All attempts to do up the 19mm nut (and a locknut) fail because it just turns the whole bolt.

And I can't get at the top of the bolt with the mount attached to the car.

I tried holding the exposed thread with molegrips but just hurt my hand when they flew off.

Any suggestions how to tighten this welcome...

You will have to support the engine, remove the two 17mm bolts that attach to the back of the diff housing, remove the two 13mm bolts that hold the plate of the engine mount to the chassis, remove the mount complete, tightern the bolt and reinstall the 13 and 17mm bolts.

Yea this is what I had to do, complete arse of a job getting the engine in the right position as well have fun :p

btw are they meant to be a bit saggy??

Is actually a piece of piss...I thought so anyway!

Well whatever. I couldnt get the bolts off the gearbox had to jack the engine up and down to get em off and on..

Oh yeah - it is a bit fiddly - but easy enough!

Was abit hard the first time i tried but now can change it within 30mins

I didnt have any problems,i only changed the mount because the engine was out anyway and it was filthy. Re-assembled the bracket and mount off the car,bolted it back in with the two gearbox bolts and two floor bolts after. Didnt notice any problems fitting the mount to the bracket.
