I know that you can fit mk1 golf items on the back without any modding, and they may be cheaper than the mk3 specific equivalent. As for the front I'm not too sure - afaik you have to send off a set of struts and they will be returned as coilovers. Speak to PhilJ on here for advice perhaps. Otherwise, look at the brands he sells and contact those manufacturers directly.

Gaz shocks make them. You need to send your struts off to have them turned into coilovers. It isn't cheap either...circa £650 for the set.

theres a company on ebay at the minute offering coilies for polos I've had a spring set of them for a 307 hdi lowered by 50mm and they are good ! if you need furthur info pm me i will sort the name out for you !!

I'm running mk1 golf Jamex rear coilovers, cant knock em really rock solid just take off the helper spring, and they will need to use 3 washer's on the bottom bolt hole so they fit properly
