ported / sealed ? what are the subs ? my b/f is very into sound offs so i can ask him

Not to sure about the physics of how twin boxes work or the exact science behind ported boxes but as general rule I use the manufacturer's recommended box size.

This usually gives me the volume needed inside the box in cubic feet (cf). I add the displacement of the sub itself. I take this number and multiply by 1728 to give me the volume in cubic inches. Then its a simple case of geometry and using the equation -HeightxWidthxDepth to give you the size of the box. Then its a case of coming up with dimensions that you are happy with.

NB: This give you the INTERNAL volume of the box needed! To get the external size of the box, ie so you know what cuts to make and whether it'll fit in the car you need to add and make allowances for the way you are planning to put the box together and the thickness of the materials used.

There are many 'box calculators' on the internet. I will see if I can find one.
