I dewedged my throttle bodyon my 91 Gt removing the wedge on the smaller butterfly,rounded of the screw heads so had to drill them out got one out perfect the second one my drill bit slipped and snapped and drilled through the butterfly drilling at an angle so it was a right bollox also managed to half strip my throttle cable, have no idea how?,managed to bodge the butterfly with pop rivets but now it ticks over at 2500-3000 rpm so I turned the mixture screw right down to the bottom to bring the tickover down but obviously this is a short term fix as it will probably be overfueling and destroy my engine

Its not as though I have never worked on cars before and have a few veedub projects under my belt but still feel like a right

Having a suspension kit fitted tommorrow as the Phil J one I have on doesn't agree with all the speed ramps in my area so had to sort something out short term

Only thought it would be a halfhour job how wrong I was

On the offchance if anybody has a standard throttle body for a gt for sale 'Pm me'

also gonna put an ad in the wanted section

I've seen 2p peices being used as butterflies before as they are near enough the right size.

Thought about trying that but what I cant get my head round is why does it now tick over so high

its gonna need a tune now any way but still confusing

if you've dislodged the butterfly it probably wont be closing properly

Is the throttle body fitted Gt specific or can I source one from any other veedub

no they are only on GT's

so how do you dewedge it? i migth give this ago lol it sounds quite safe

mabee the rivets aren't air tight and air is getting past them?

Have you looked down the tb while the engine is on tickover to see if anything is amiss?

where I have dewedged it one screw hole looks normal the other looks like a figure 8 as I said before made a right hash of it trying to rush it

Tried to bodge it but ideally need either a comlpete gt throttle body or new butterfly

any Ideas where I can get one from?
