Engine Converstion....

Featured Replies

OK,sorry bout another thread gu9y, but have made some devolpments in getting my car back on the road.

I went to see a new engine for my car. Its a 1.0L MPI from a MK5. The engine has everyig already connected up (the engine, gearbox, front suspension setup, brakes and discs etc.) Now when i mean its connected up, he droped it from the polo by lifting it up as iot was a write off.

now for the million dollar question....

Can I just replace my current engine setup (1.3 8v SPI - 95 MK4Polo). Can I also use the MK5 suspension setup in my MK4. Would there be any fabrication involved?

Quick advice would be good as I am picking up the engine tomorrow!

thanks

Liam

I don't think Mk5 suspension is compatible with Mk4s and I'm not too sure about the mounts for the engine either. I wouldn't like to say... but as nobody else has replied I'd say it's a nogo for the suspension but not sure for the engine.

I'm not aware of any body differences, and i dont see why not. But I've never done it. And the pre-facelift car also got mpi aswell. So you're best looking for one of those unless you can get more solid information that the later car wont give considerable problems.

Anyone got anymorwe advice?

Not too bothered about suspension wise as my current MK4 Suspension is good.

Just need to know if the 1.0 MPI is ok to go in the MK4 without too much work.

Thanks

I would have thought you'd be better putting a mk3 engine in there, than a mk5 1.0 tbh.

Though i don't knwo much about mk4/5's tbh.
