I spent the best part of an hour and a half last night tracing the wiring in my ignition circuit to and from the immobiliser unit. Its called a 'Killjoy Gold', whatever that is. Its also being a bugger but I'm not too sure if it is the immobiliser.

IF its armed, nothing happens when you turn the key. WHen you disarm it and turn the key i can hear the fuel pumps prime, btu nohting else. I would have thought that if power was reaching the starter motor, and it was buggered, then it would make some kind of noise/attempt to rotate...

I was thinking i could cut out the immobiliser and thus remove that as a possibel cause of the starting problem. If i were to cut it out from everywhere it joins the ignition circuit and simply reconnect the wires that have been interrupted, would that remove it completely? It doesnt have any wires leadign to anywhere other than the ignition loom, so i thought that by removing it from the circuit and reconnecting its meant to be, it should start fine. I'm just worried that it will somehow sense that the wires have been cut, and completely kill the starting circuit.

But then logic dictates that if the wiring is no longer going through the immobilising circuit at all, then there should be no immobilising effect. Does anyone have any ideas if I'm right or wrong? I'm not a sparky at all, I'm just applying logic to the situation at the moment.

Is there anyone on here who can confirm that I'm right? I don't want to cut it all out if its gona kill my ignition circuit completely.

aslong as you can trace backall the wires,you'll be ok!

most alarm/immobilser wires are just tapped onto the ignition wires, so there is no real breaks in the ignition circuit!

you will find that maybe 1 or 2 wires will be broke as they would got to different parts of the immobilser box, but you just simply put those back together again!

then that should be problem solved!
