I have a phillj 60/60 shock kit but i have 185/60/13s on and it really doesnt look like ill be able to drop it 60 at the front. Is 40mm too much with these tyres? (mk4 polo)

It'll go down 60 no problem.

Buy some slimmer tyres dude!

They should be fine, even at that size, to drop it 60. Unless the wheels have some stupid offset...

i have a feeling thats what the steels I'm running are in (185/60's) and I'm about 120mm down on coilovers..

but he has ats classics i think so that will be fun

Get smaller profiles. Then your troubles will be all over. you can lower as much as you'd like then :)

The tyres i had on before were ridiculously funny..sooo much grip! Fuck it then, i reakon ill just whack on the 60/60 kit and if worst comes to worst ill put the standard springs on the front untill i can get some of the right drop!

I've got the phillj kit, do you reakon my handling would be much better? I go round a corner (counrty lane) at like 40 and i proper feel the back tipping and it makes me nervous!

PhilJ kits are very firm, good enough for hard driving on smooth to slightly lumpy surfaces, but if you take it on any harsh dirt roads I think you could expect to feel like a skimming stone somewhat.

i have 165 60 14's on the rear of mine lowered 60 and its fine

why are you only worried about the front ? the back could be judt as much of a bitch

Because i didnt realise the back was a problem ... also if its too much of a problem i can adjust it with my kit... I mainly started the thread because i looked at the front and measured , saw that 60mm was waay too much but i didnt realise that the side i was measured had a fucked shock ( its like 30mm lower than the other side ! makes corners scary as fuck!)

I wouldn't worry about feeling the back tipping. I've been on 3 wheels going round a corner before and the car was still stable as anything. I may have video evidence for this one

Personally I'd go for lower profile tyres when you next change them honey. But 60mm should be fine I would have thought. You might need to roll the inner arch lip tho to make sure you have clearance.

I proper need to get my shocks fitted now... had a few quotes of around £150... my cars handing is soo shit!

personally mate dont pay any one to do it its a rip off do it youur self or get a mate to give you a hand that 150 could go on some arch rolling or tyres (if you need to change)

Yeah.. the stupid thing is I'm a vmr mechanic... going into motorsport in september but the only tools i have is 1/2 a set of imperial sockets lol...
