Is it a dealer fitted one? Or was it fitted afterwards?

My advice would be to remove the plastic shield below the steering wheel to expose the ignition wiring loom. One you've done that you should be able to see where the immobiliser wires interrupt the ignition wiring. Trace these wires back to find the immobiliser unit - mine was hidden under the far right hand side of the dashboard. Then trace each wire from the unit, labelling it as it leaves the immob, and then labelling it when you find where it meets the car wiring.

This allows you to determine what all the wires do, and you should be able to work out which wires need to be re-connected (minus the immobiliser) to return it to how it was when it left the factory. I've got to this stage but not taken it out yet, but i would imagine that removing the unit would remove any immobilising effect it could have.

For more advice maybe PM MikeyMK on here as i think he just took his out.

EDIT: Need to add that i am by no means a professional, and i haven't got the first clue about electronics, but logic dictates that by completing the circuit minus the unit which interrupts it, everything should work as it did before. I am not responsible if anything goes wrong! You could always ring an auto electrician for advice, or if you know who installed it, ask them for tips.
