is it easy to fit a clifford and where should i start first

fitting an alarm is straight forward....if you know what you are doing!! id strongly advise that if you have never fiddled around with car electronics, then i wouldnt bother. but if you are handy with a test light and tools, then its the job for you!

if its a CAT 1 alarm, it wont be valid for insurance as it has to be fitted by a registered installer!

but other than that, you'll need instuctions, for the car and the alarm ifyou dont know basics (wire colours etc).......

you'll find that out of the 20 odd wires on the alarm box, you'll only use around 10!!!

the guys i use for electronics wont even fit an alarm unless they have sold it to you.

For real...Not a good idea to piss about with the alarm on a car unless you've done it before, can be costly!!

pay someone to fit it, alarms are tempermental at the best of times, let alone if they have been botched in by a novice. like one of the other guys said too you wont be able to get insurance discount either (well unless you have already been supplied with certificate (like sone of the alarms you can buy of ebay) and you take it to a garage to confirm it has the stated alarm fitted) the insurance discount should cover the cost of having it installed after a couple of years anyway!

why do you think GOOD alarm installers charge over £100-150 for installation...

ok i fitted my own alarm in my last car (cheap ebay £30 thing) but paid for the clifford on my polo to be installed properly..

I got my toad one installed by a registered fitter for £70. I just went on yell.com and phoned all the garages and auto electricians I could find and asked for prices, eventually a garage gave me the guys number and he came and fitted it that night.
