De-seaming

Featured Replies

Has anyone done this before and able to offer some tips. From what I can tell the gutters are part of the roof and so will need welding up nice and strongly. Other than that anything else I should be aware of?

yeah just grind a few inches at a time and then seam weld the the edge up. I was thinking of doing it on mine, but I dont think the gaps at the top of the door looks right if you do it

Cheers, just wondering about ti cos they're rusted and it'd carry on the smoothed theme...

I've only seen one mk3 polo that I can remember that's had it done and it looked a bit weird. If you're pretty decent with a welder then it shouldn't be a problem.

i think it looks abit weird because its so differant and people are use to seeing teh gutter but on taht mint mk1 posted a while ago it looked great and i can imagine it on a mk3 and it looking quite subtle and nice

i have seen one, looks GREAT, but i reckon it it hard :/

I can't imagine it would be too complex, was just wondering about the best way to go about it being as it's structural. I'm not welding it myself, I know a chap who'll do it for pennies though :-)

well when i did the mini i, chopped a few inches then plated from behinkd and welded the gap at the front and then skipped a few inches then did the next couple of inches and so on then teh areas i skipped i chopped out one at a time and welded them up and if its done properly you should need hardly and filler if non at all
