you repair them! knock the scab off, wire wheel the area to remove any remaining rust, then use a rust inhibitor like kurust, fill the area if needed, then prim and paint. as a temp fix you could just remove the scab and slap a bit of hammerite on. leave the scab and it will work its way into the panel and start to get bigger

And if I were you I'd repair it sooner rather than later. I had a Mk4 which developed a VERY small scab on the door and within 2 months it was a mahusive rust patch about 6 inches wide
