I want to take the spotlight grill off my Coupe s and do a single light conversion. Is it hard to do, wiring and things? Any help much appreciated.

As for the lights,they simply unplug via a white connector clipped to the chassis leg,and the twin lamp grille is held by two screws in addition to the clips the single grille shares with it.

I had the single lamp grille in recently due to a cracked spotlamp,i liked it,but i prefer the twin - and now have that back in.

Cheers, I was just wondering what happens with the high beams because they obviously get taken with the grill. Do they get wired into the headlights?

I'm curious about this aswell. as i want to have a single headlight grille on my car.

damian would you like to swap? disconnect the inners, drive up to a wall, put your lights on dip, put your lights on main beam see if theres a difference.

^^ I should hope he's already done that many times to check that his lights work properly - i face a mirrored building specifically for this test every few days.

Your main beams are in the main lamps,just like any other Polo. The ones in the grille are just additional driving lamps connected to the main beam circuit. Removing them will obviously lower the performance of your main beams to that of standard cars,as you'll only have 2x55w instead of 4x55w - but even if you had twenty lamps on the front,they'd only shine the same distance,so you wont notice the 50% reduction.

i thought as much, my first polo had a twin light grille and tbh i didnt think the lights were any better overall, made it worse when you went onto dip as the main beams were better. i just want some for aesthetic value.

A Steve-O loom makes more difference than a spotlight grill in my opinion.

i was gonna do both at the same time as i would be making up some wiring for the spots anyway. gotta get my hands on some fat wire though

Another question, a single light grill from a squareback will fit straight onto a coupe right?
