As title. Looks like theres a sort of blank for a lock barrel. Did some come with locking gloveboxes?

Yes, they did. They are still available from VW, but they take a smaller key, and you need to have a pre-cut smaller key for the barrel to be tumbled, otherwise the lock would serve no function.
