does anybody know what bhp the 1.6 engines are in the polo 6n are as it looks an easy conversion to do. my 47.000 mile 1.0 engine does'nt sound very healthy at the mo.

it depends if your 1000cc engine has single point or multi point injection, if you have mutli point injection then it's a dead easy conversion to do, the only thing you have to be carefull off is the clutch and.. if you are going to retain your original 1000cc gearbox you will need to use the 1000cc clutch because the first motion shaft has a 18mm spline on those, and the boxes from a 1600 have a 20mm spline and obviously the clutch friction plate has to mount over this spline....

if your's is a single point injection dont bother!!

because you will most likely have to change the fuel tank and the fuel pump to the multipoint one to get it to work, the spi fuel pump runs at a much lower pressure...

also if it's an mpi you could use the existing ecu and wiring loom to run the 1.6 engine

as far as I'm aware the pumps/tanks are the same, but the regulators are different, giving you different fuel pressure. The only reason I have a concern is I'm going to be putting ITB's on the new engine for my car, but since I'm using a new ecu, loom, regulator etc. it doesnt make much odds.

i'll just buy a rear ended car from my local salvage yard they've got two in now i just wanted advice from some one who has this done this conversion i was going to put a b16a v tec lump in it. i'v put vr's into my last two mk2 golfs so i have a good idea of what to do. this is going to be our everyday car so needs it to be resonable.
