Cheers peeps, i'm off out to do some more on it today. The weather is driving me nuts, anyone would think its november.

Nope not had a go with the seats yet, i was tempted to take the angle grinder to them, but i just need to wait a while first :).

Finish the outside first, then start on the inside.

I HATE the british weather soooooooooooooooooooooooo much!

The rain got so bad i had to abandon ship, i tried to stick it out :)

Paul i got some seat bases, if u want them. cheers

well done for trying, i was working on mine but the rear are scraping and i cant drive on my wheels so had to pull over and swap both wheels over. I'm no happy.

Well impressed with your work! and the pace you work at!

I feel really lazy now!

I have a front passenger wing by the way - Its not great, not to rusty but you can see its got filler in it- probly for dints ect. Let me know if your interested

haven't seen pics of this beast for a while! is it going to be at e38? i bought the green mk1 off gregs girlfriend, its on polished Pslots with gaz coilovers and stripped interior now. looking pimp!

Cheers ttej, but phil j sorted me out with some.

Mike polo, daisys polo was a cool little ride, nice and original too. Sounds cool, but put the interior back in it :).

Mk1 ched, working outside in the rain realy does suck donkey d1ck, but i want to try and get it done for E38, not sure i will though. I may have to sling it together or if not i'll bring the karmann up. As for the wing, have you got any pics? I've just brought one from KMS for £91!!!!!!!!!!!!!, but it hasnt arrived yet. I'm close to buying another polo just to take off a few bits i need.

I've also found the drivers side wing needs a bit of tidying and some loving with a hammer to make it fit.

Well after working under my umbrellas again and it raining on me loads i know have the drivers side arch done. Not a great job as it was stop start because of the weather.

Been hard at it again over the last few days. Had a few issues, the second hand wing i brought believing there was no rust was rusty, so i had to make up a new bottom corner. Also then made part of the front valence, but the wing still needed some hammer loving. Not keen on the fit at all, but it will have to do as it was getting on my tits. The new repro wing that i thought I'd have issues with fits like a glove.

also my welder wasnt loving the hot sun today and kept cutting out.

So, drivers side inner wing on, plate on the inner front wheel arch on, plate on inner rear arch on, 2 sections of rear valence made and on, front valence made and on, wings done, all arches undersealed too.

Right, been hard at it again this weekend.

My main problem now is finishing it as i went snowboarding last night in MK and was d1cking about on the rails when i fell and pulled my back, good move batman

I drove it to a friends paint shop like this, i got some strange old looks on the road as i cruised along on a sunny sunday afternoon.

I could also do with a front grill, so if anyone has one before E38 that would be awesome. I know loads of you have put early grills on so someone must have a late one kicking about?

Fast Work fella you keeping orange or changine colours??? Are you set for edition??? if so we'll have a few pics of our two polos! 8-) Although now i think yours is lower

Mine was that height but no good with the wheels so its gone up and down more times than a hookers knickers.

aftre seeing your height thinking about changing wheels and judt going for the massive slam.

As you can see, its staying orange. I think mandarine rocks on a polo, everyone else i know isnt so sure :).

Right its now painted, well near enough as i have a few more bits to do tomorrow. One thing is i'm GuttED!!!! at the finish. I've spent ages getting it perfect, but i knew there were a few bits that werent right. I was waiting to put the first coat of primer on to show up all the inperfections then fix them all, second coat and then paint it. Well it was at a friends paint shop at the RAF and he couldnt sleep so came down at the crack of dawn and painted it all for me. Nice jestor, apart from i think the finish is crap. All that work for nothing, i nearly cried, i really did.

Now the drivers side wing that gave me issues is rubbish, clearly a stones gone up in the arch at some point and battered the hell out of it. Its painted and on as i had nothing else to use. I know I'm fussy, but i almost took some sand paper to the whole car there and then and started agian. A few friends and my girlfriend thinks it looks ok and I'm just too fussy. It looks ok from a metre away. I may even get a sticker made telling everyone i'm aware of the paint :).

I was nervous driving it about 10 miles in fresh paint down a newly chipped road, luckily it made it back fine :-D

At least it looks good in the pics :), hopefully once its fitted up and polished it will look better.

As for E38, yep i'm trying dam hard to make it. I found out today that my wheel adaptors haven't been cut and the laser is broken, so I'm praying another set i have can be re drilled to fit.

Yep it is low, there isnt much movement in it and i'm going to have to modify the front inner winge to clear the struts :)

I hope your loving my BBS rim too :)

Cheers all, just a shame the paints a bit pants. I'm having a nightmare trying to get it done for E38.

I have 2 FULL flat out days ahead of me.

I took both the wings off today and gave them another coat, plus i did the scuttle. The door shuts will have to wait.

If my wheel adaptors arent ready or i cant get the tyres i want it wont be coming to Edition (but the ghia will). I will try my hardest to get it done, it decided to run on 3 today, dont think it loved all the dust so i have to sort that too :(

As for pics, well i'll post a few, but you'll have to wait for the final look. The Wheels are proving hard to fit and i 'll only get to try them properly on friday night (if at all)

p.s the front maybe coming down another 15mm

ok I've had the shitest that ever! i know I'm typing like a mong.

i was shaping the last piece of metal when the grinder caught and spun the metal into a turkey twisler style thingy taking the top of my finger with it. i have to say that bloody hell does it hurt, people keep wanting to take me to hospital, but i'll be fine :)

as for the car well one of my cool trick bits is dead, so i need to make another one but a tad worried about using the grinder one handed.

i got my wheel adaptors done today, only to find that theres noway the wheels are going on with the car this low. so it looks like it will be rolling on the standards for now :(

all in all I've just about had enough of the car.

mate you really should go and get your finger sorted. Even if the hospital just check it and let you out, better today aswell as thursday should be a quiet night of A&E.

Wouldnt recommend using the gringer one handed, my friend did that and almost took a toe off!

Running wide rims is the same problems I'm having, i think my ET is 4 so its been a complete nightmare.

Chin up and imagine all the beer we can drink on sat night!

DSCF3739.jpg

Looking at this again, tbh I think it looks AWESOME on the steels mate

Get the trim on, and get down to Edition. I wanna see it

But possibly go get your finger checked out 1st!

 love it

cheers peeps.

it really isnt worth seeing close up :(

ok then i have a lot of one handed work (no not that) to do tomorrow then if you want to see it at E38.

as for rims mine are only 4j wide :), but i dont have time to mess about getting them to fit.

I'm so shocked people like the car. I'm an og and vintage fan at heart, all the other stuff was a wind up

Lightly cooked Polo with mushroom and red wine sauce,

Done!

well almost, its now running fine and is pretty much together, its not how i want it at all, but it means i can take it to the show tomorrow.

Loads of my trick bits arent on it and I've ended up painting the standard rims for the moment.

If you see me give us a shout :)

A bit more of an up date on my noddy car.

I got it running ok, but it still needs to be set up properly as it drinks fuel, tons of the stuff.

I spent for what seemed like forever getting this thing ready to roll to E38, well i made it in the end. It drove all the way there and back, 2 up and fully loaded, never missed a beat and was as good as gold. Its the longest journy its been on in about 3-4 years :)

I had my missus masking up the std steels for painting, my mate helped bolt on the last few bits too. I was up untill 4am on friday night/sta morning and up again early on sat. It was already to go at 4pm and we made it to Edition by about 7.30 after a shopping stop on the way.

I also realised that i was working on the car so much i went for a day and a half with only eat an apple turnover, opps that might explain why i didnt feel to great  . The things we do for bloody cars 8-) .

A few mor snaps.

Inside the Passenger side rear arch fixed, most of the archs undersealed, i'll do the rest soon. The rear drums were cleaned up and give a splash of paint too.

Rear valence made,

I wasnt happ with the wings so they came off and were painted again, still not great, but a bit better. These were being dont at about 1am and then i needed to tart up the std steels, so they went brown and white. I think they look quite cool for a quick tart up job. I took the wheels back to metal, masked them up and we were ready to go. I wanted them 2 tone which took a little longer and i bet my neighbours were loving the compressor charging at 3 in the morning. The tyres looked rubbish so i tyre painted them. I picked the best pair of bumpers i had and then drowned them in bumper shine to bring them back to life a little.

My cool mudflaps were ment to be an easy bolt on job sat mornings, but nope, they didnt fit at all, so i was wheels off and drill out to get them on. I mounted them as highas they would go, but they still touch the floor, but are slowly grounding clear.

I didnt get a chance to put mu philj caps on so it sits a little lower at the back, i'll sort that soon.

My exhaust pipe trim was a pain to fit, but i love, same with my swan neck ghia mirror. My fav thing is my number plates, og plastic rivited letters, now they were stupidly hard to get hold of :).

My Stickers are on (which made a lot of people coment  ), including my clubpolo one and a bit of polish.
