Widened Driver steels on 6n

Featured Replies

Driver steels are 6" wide IIRC (or are they 7?), thus making them 8". With a 60mm-ish drop d'you reckon theyd fit without too much fuss with low profile, not overly stretched tyres?

Opinions? Ta. :-)

ona 6n with minimal stretch they will probably stick out a fair way so might get scrubbing on the arch on full lock are they 13's?

that whould look NICE :D

do you mean Golf driver steels? I'm pretty sure they are 14's.

If they are your get 8's on easy if you get stretched tyres, quite few people on here are on wide 14s lower than 60 with no issues

yer 14's would lok better taht 13's as with 13's you get abit of an arch gap lowered 80mm ish so 60 should be fine but with stretch its possible but without it will be close

So i guess all i need to find out is how wide Drivers steels are standard. I dunno without looking, and an extra 2" lip on a set would be the sex!

And i dont even have the car yet! :paranoid:

14x6 ET38.

Same as my GTI steels. Unless they're actually Driver steels...

heartagram, i was looking at my mates golf with the same wheels this evening... the tyres are 185s with no stretch and dont look to balloon out at all... which leads me to think they're 7" rims...

Well I have a set in my garage with 14x6 ET38 stamped into them so that leads me to believe they are 14x6 ET38

Standard tyre size is 185/60/14 for a mk2 Golf I think. 185/195 is common on a 6" rim.

None of the four stud VW steel wheels are wider than 6", including G60 15" ones. Golf Driver ones are 6x14".

Tom66, have a look at the centre of the wheel, the width/size and ET are hard stamped there.

get them done, will look very nice.

Cant wait to get my steels back :-D

Well, there's plenty of arch room on a defender, I wouldnt worry about the low profiles!

Would'nt dare disagree with Kam (Heartagram) on any wheel related subject, he's one of the resident club polo wheel whores!

Hehe, cheers dudes! Ill believe you! I'm chuffed they're 6" actually, itd seem a bit pointless paying £250 to have them banded any less than 2"!

Just gotta find a set now...
