hard to close as in boot lifter are fecked or physically wont latch on?

its the latch, you have to slam it pretty hard to shut it...

check the black grommet type things are not wound out too much or these will stop the boot closing.

you could adjust the latch (slacken the bolts and they slide up and down)

some wd40 or similar wouldn't harm the situation either
