Just rung GSF to order some new wheel bearings for polo gti rear axle

matey says they are £54!! each, as they are built into the hubs?

Is that true?

what kind of stupid setup is that?

what a joke, £108 just to change two wheel bearings

ahhh what. looks like i need to add that to the list to

all i could think was that they are factory pressed/sealed for a longer life... and they probably jus made no way for them to be pressed out!

might be the same for alot of new VAG's...I'm pretty sure the mk4 golf has an identical hub...just with 5 holes not 4... (just pray u dont ever need to do em on the diesel aswell Jez  )

That sounds about right

I might just go 5 stud then, reckon I could get bigger choice of 16" rims if I did?

and yea, they aint coming out, tried with the 2lb hammer, and its not budging,

big golf is a petrol Tej,

my bad

for some reason i thought your golf daily was a diesel!?..

yeah the 5 stud is good if u want more choice on wheels...but I'm not sure what hubs will give u the same pattern on the front tho!?

Wheel bearings are a pain in the neck. If manufacturers just sold a sealed bearing/hub unit that you could easily just swap over without pressing, and were able to sell them for like fifty quid, that'd be all good for me. Course, tapered bearings loosely fitted in drums are better, but still.

The Saab's the same, except it's about £350 to do all 4 with GSF bits...
