Am I Stuffed?

Featured Replies

Long story short:

- Speed Gun got me going 42mph in a 30mph limit.

So i have to produce my documents and collect 3 points. Problem is MOT ran out last week (I thought i had till the 25th),

anyway, i have till Thursday to produce so I am going to be on that phone like mad tomorow trying to get an MOT booked.

So the worst situation is, if i do get an MOT but they notice that the date on it means i didn't have one when they pulled me over or i don't get an MOT in time and they see it is out of date.

So I'm already getting 3 points for the speeding will i get anymore for the MOT issue?

It's a big problem because i have not held a liecence for 2 years (Only have to wait till October) and 6 points and it's game over.

Anyone know if you get points for no MOT?

quick look on the internet i found this mate

not sure if it helps...

My MOT has run out what are the penalties

Answer: No MOT is rarely charged as a separate offence and usually appears as part of a long list of other offences with a more substantive offence carrying the major penalty. It is usually dealt with as no separate penalty Where the defendant has been convicted of more than one offence, a magistrates court is entitled to impose a penalty for one offence and make an order of no “separate penalty” for the remaining offences, if it is thought that an adequate sentence has already been imposed. Which means that fines are rarely imposed for not having an mot, on a roadworthy vehicle

I had same worry... was stopped at a speed check, doing 36 in 30 zone. The cop let me off with a caution on that, but got done for noisy exhaust (holed in a knackered old Mitsubishi Colt diesel, before you get the wrong idea). Got a producer, didn't have an MOT, but heard nothing about it, just had to get the zorst fixed within 14 days + certificated, which I did. Was quite worried, but never heard anything about the MOT in the end...

In any case no MOT isn't an endorsable offence, i.e. you won't get points on your licence for it... so don't sweat too much, hope you sleep easier...
