Lock on Boot 97 manufactured Polo

Featured Replies

Hi all,

The lock on the boot/5th door of my Polo seems a bit dodgy - either that of there's a real 'knack' to unlocking it.

It turns very freely (almost too loose) and sometimes unlocks somethimes doesn't. What sort of turn is it? Is it a '90 degrees turn and its unlocked' or does the key need to be turned more do you think? When I centrally loc from the drivers door, t locks too but doesn't unlock when I centrally unlock...

Anyone got any experience or useful suggestions?

cheers

Steve

remove the plastic backing oon the rear of the boot lining one screw inside the shutting grab gandle and then unclip it rom next to the glass!

this will show all the workings of the central locking in the boot and the lock mech!

they are prone to seizing etc if the lock os not opening viz the c/l then there maybe a leak on one of the c/l pipes or the vacuum pipe has come off completely...have a look around see if anything is loose or damaged! 8-)

Hi again - got the hang of it now - it was a nack not knackered!!

Basically the boot opens just fine once I've unlocked the car - no worries at all!

Now I've sorted that and replaced the parcel shelf, I'm as happy as Larry!

cheers

Steve
