Hi,

cry for help.

I have had my polo dropped 60mm. the wheels and tyres i have on at the moment are 4mm smaller than the standard tyres i've had on before but the problem is my front offset..

I have 7js on the front but 10mm spacers to clear the caliper (btw i know the wheels are the wrong offset so dont tell me to get diff wheels as i've had enough of that shit from mechanics)

I need to get new tyres (they will be 20mm smaller than the ones on at the moment) but is there anything i can do to change/ help the offset? Or how much is it to get my two front arches rolled?

cheers, proper need help

dude, just get some super low profile n stretched rubber n should be ok!!!

but obviously depends on how bad it is!!

good luck dude!

going by the pictures in your other thread, the tread doesnt seem to protrude from the arch so it doesnt look like much of a problem. You could look into lower profile tires.

Would it be adviseable to try and file down my caliper some what to minimize the need to have a spacer?

If you do get a super strech on the front...you'll lose the handling. A lower profile tyre would be better...Have you lowered on coilovers?

nah sadly its on a fixed kit.. proper shouldnt have cheaped out lmao :D

I'm not gonna streach much tbh.. I'm putting 185's on a 7j rim

well with the liquid levels in the calipers its probably not a good idea unless u can get a caliper taht is apart so you can see how close to the edge the liquid holes are so you dont end up getting too close with the file/grinder...

and lower profiles will result in a preety big arch gap but if your getting arches rolled it might be cheaper in the long run to get some differant front wheels, sorry if its not what you wanted to hear but it might be right.

The tyres that are going on the front will be 18mm smaller than the ones on there atm... I'm gonna see if i can get the arches rolled before they go on (save chewing up new tyres) does that mean I'm gonna have nearly 2cm more room to play with?

Also will my car pass an mot now its been lowered?

175/50 would be okay on a 7 as well. Lowered car pass mots fine.

^^ Yeah but would look really gay on a 6n only dropped 60mm.

Try 165/50/15 potenzas maybe?

I think he might struggle to get 15" tyres on 13" wheel?

do you NEED the 10mm spacers? could you not get away with smaller 5mm ones? you could probably shave the calipers as the side that fouls the wheel doesnt have the piston in it, but I'd get a pair from the scrappers just incase lol. But tbh your only going to be able to get away with making the face flat, take away too much and it could weaken.

I think he might struggle to get 15" tyres on 13" wheel?

yeah because I knew they were 13".... Nice use of a rhetorical question though.

If that's the case I would agree with Heartagram with him being a wheel whore

I'm gonna try on the 185/55's but if it just doesnt work then I'm gonna have to give in to heartagrams constant impounding of the phrase ' get smaller fucking tyres' lol.

I think 10mm spacers were overkill a bit because when i went to put 5mm spacers on it was literally slightly too small... ill see what i can get away with. I cant remember whether it was a tiny lip on the caliper that was hitting the rim.

I've found a little bodyshop hidden away near me. gonna give him a bell today and see about getting my arches rolled.. could that solve it? dont fancy getting 80quids worth of rubber on there only to be chewed up again!

but thats the problem aint it. the tyres are too balloony! 8-)

get the lower profile as said ^^

I've already suggested 165x55s,because 185s are rather wide. So i'll answer with something about the brakes - dont file the calipers, look to see if you can use thinner spacers,as suggested already.. Erm,then thanks for the update on uses for the word 'fuck' - i have now added to my list:

Problem = Fuuuuuuk! :(

lol,

I had used up all my resources and needed help..

' problem with car = go to slep and maybe it will be fixed in the morning' when that didnt work i knew i'd need help lol.

Ill get somone to roll the arches (properly) on monday and then get spacers :D cheers

i had 7x13 classics on my mk4 I'm all the way down on philj coilovers, i had 175/50s on and scrubbed bad at the back with 4 people in the car, i never had any issues with the front, and i ran 6mm spacers, well apparently they're 6mm i thought they were 5mm but anyhoo, either try a smaller spacer theyll be cheaper than new tyres aswell, or mayb go the 175/50 route as mentioned
