Are the door strips on the outside over a mk4 6n just held on with dubble sided tape or they on with clips

Hi mate - used to have a 6n and I removed door bump strips - they're held in place with double sided tape.

Make sure you use hot water or something like wd40 to help the tape glue unstick, and the strips should come right off.

then just remove remaining glue with auto glym tar remover.

Its not always that easy. I removed mine with the following, and it still took me HOURS to get glue off. I initially used boiling water, then wd40, polish, t-cut, AND a hairdryer. Very hard to get glue/tape off. The bloody paint had BAD watermarks underneath, so I stuck the fuckers back on, what a waste of time!

I did this saturday, my top tips (things i wish i read before i started)

1. when the strip is halfway off, dont get excited and pull the rest off as you'l take off the paint and primer with it! instead continue to take your time slowly loosening the glue

2. Autoglym tar remover @ £4.00 a bottle ok, Meths at £2.00 a bottle even better! Did one side with autoglym and the other side with meths and the meths was much much quicker!
