lacquer missing :(

Featured Replies

hi, came back to my car this afternoon, and it looks as though someone has put tape on my bonnet and pulled it off again, :-( so I'm now about a square inch short of lacquer compared to this morning, any way to fix this? so it blends in again?

thanks for any help.

The only way i can think of doin it would be:

1) Gently sand the area with no lacquer with 1500/2000 grit wet and dry to give something for the lacquer to stick to, and remove an loose lacquer.

2) Spray lacquer on to the area with a slight overlap onto some existing lacquer. (Only a thin layer)

3) Let that dry for bout a week, to make sure it is totally dry.

4) Once dry, gently sand the area down so that it blends in with the existing lacquer using wet 2000 wet and dry.

5) Using rubbing compound, polished etc (best done with a buffer) buff the scratches out until it is as good as new.

Prob not the easiest way, and might not be the best, but one way of doin it. Hope it helps. Chris
