Track Rod End.

Featured Replies

Son has left (dumped!) his K reg Polo for me to look at and I've never worked on any VW's before as I've always had Escorts so I would appreciate some help please. Have fitted new track rod end to passenger side,no problem, but on drivers side there is no lock nut so am I right in presuming track rod end comes attached to bar.Son supplied me with the two track rod ends but for the life of me I can't see how to unscrew the old one from the bar it's attached to!! Any help much appreciated.Thanks.

PS..Also need to renew passenger side wheel bearing...is this a garage job or could Ido this myself?

as far as i can remember your correct the drivers side track rod end is part of the unit although I'd be happier if someone can confirm this as it may be different from the g40 ones i have. the bearing i'd say a garage job as it will need a canny bit of force to get it in and out unless you have the tools to do it at home. or take the strut off and get a garage to do it and take it back home and refit it all?

I think TCA's are the same on both sides?

You'll have to get a garage to press the bearing in

passenger side is adjustable.

Make sure you order the correct year arm, the mk1/2 and mk3 arms are different lengths.
