ryt has any one had to replace thers on there 6n ? any advice ??? my dad says i need spring compressers ??? do i ?

no you don't need spring compressors, leave the spring and strut where it is. Undo the nut and bolt through the bottom of the hub that holds the ball joint in, knock the ball joint out of the hub. Then undo the bolts that hold the joint to the end of the wishbone (if it's like a mk2 golf there might be rivets instead of bolts that'll need drilling out and replacing with bolts). Then as they say, refitting is the reverse of removal!
