Hi guys,

As above I lowered my 9n on the weekend and now it wont stop knocking? I think it's the CV joint but I'm not sure. It's coming only from the drivers side and it sounds as though it's ni on by my foot. Every time I come off the accecelerator it makes the noise and as soon as apply my foot back on it stops???

I dont really wanna lift the coilies again coz I love the ride height now and theres tonnes of cars on here lower than mine which I dowt do this?

Any ideas of what this could be, how I can fix and if I should be driving on th A2/M25 everyday?

Your help would be appreciated.

Hi Ollie,

I would say your grinding noise is almost certainly your anti-roll bar touching your drive shaft! I've just fitted coilovers to my 9N, and been through the same hassle. What I did, was take the anti-roll bar drop links off, and shortened them by around 40mm.

I wanna keep it nice and low but we will have to see. My area is full of bumps so I may just get air ride, when I win the lottery

You should still be able to keep it low, it just needs the anti-roll bar to be in the right position. I took my drop links off, chopped them down, then welded them back together and it's been fine ever since. Mine's pretty low, it's only 10mm above the lowest setting on the struts now. I'll keep that last little bit of adjustment for shows!!!! I'll be posting a few pictures as soon as I've got my centre caps back fom the paintshop. How about posting some pics of yours?

When it was knocking it was down 85mm on the front and 40mm rear. Now it's 40 all round

Definately the ARB hitting your DS drive shaft. Apart from shortening drop links there are 2 other ways around this,

1. Get rid of the ARB all together. I did this and (touch wood) haven't noticed any bad handling characteristics (infact it handles better id say, much less understeer but absolutely NO oversteer :) )

2. Get a Whiteline ARB which actually goes under the driveshaft so will eradicate all knocking all together.
