Is the quote worth it?

Featured Replies

Went and saw a bloke at a bodyshop yesterday to get a quote of doing my bumper, so to smooth off the 16v front bumper leaving just the large centre grille and number plate recess, and paint it obviously and to repaint my rear valver bumper as its cracked.

£350 Notes all done and he can have it done before Ed38!

Whats's your opinions?

Nick

is the work of high standard?

a local accident repair place offered me a quote of 250 to smooth my front bumper i thought it was a bit steep tbh, esp when he said to me oh this would be a good little project for one of the young apprentices, they love stuff like this!

i would say its not too bad if the work is good astheay re sprayig 2 panels usually aound 100quid each and smoothing/custom work too! if you want itdone for ed38 it might be a good choice!

Yeah i saw some of his full resprays n they are of high quality, looked round aswell n everything is professional.

Only thing I'm slightly worried about is he hasnt ever done smoothing but knew ways of doing it straight away

I'm in 2minds wether to just get them resprayed

if he knew what he was talking about i dont see why his work wont be good even thou he has never done it, think of it as him taking a big dent out of a panel! priniciples must be similar. what to use, how to apply, how to get flat smooth finish and paint! 8-)

True, anyone else got any view on this?

Smoothed and sprayed....hmmm, spray u talking nothing more then £80 per panel = £160, then approx £100 to smooth all 5 sections (four side grills and recess)

£260 all in! I wouldn't pay more then £300 tbh...

Its just finding somewhere to do the work, I havnt had much luck so far!

My garage would do it for £250...but south london is a trek for you!

Yea is a lil bit, would that be for both bumpers aswel!?

Where abouts in S.London?

Your going to be hard pushed to find any where to get it done before ED38.

Don't for get the prep work is what they need/should take the longest over.

Yeah the bloke that has given me that quote said if I definately want it done then he will do it before ed38 for me!

He's only got a couple of jobs to do other than this as he has only just got back off holiday

Thats a cracking price imho i wouldnt charge any less than that. when i did my valver bumpers it took alot of time and alot of effort. and for him to say he can have it done before ed38 aslong as the quality of his work is good then go for it I'd definatly want it for longer than a week if i was doing it as prep work on bumpers takes ages.
