7x16 & 8x16 on a 6n2?

Featured Replies

I might run some 7x16 & 8x16 on my Polo (6n2)

It’s down around 70mm at the moment; do you think I’ll have any problems running the 8x16’s on the rear?

The current ET is 53.2 but with adaptors I have it can either be 27.3 or 22.3. Tyre wise I guess I’d be best with 195/40’s?

Any advice would be appreciated! Cheers.

I think that you'll have issues with it scrubbing, my wheels are 15"x7J with 195/45's and they scrub pretty badly on the rear so you might need to get some arch work done :?

Really? On the ATS? I thought they were ET25?

(Off topic, but your car was looking nice at the last months no-rice! Maybe I should have kept them :-D )

Yep on those ATS, they are ET25, but it does scrub REALLy badly on the back :? hence me thinking that 16 x 8 just won't be any good....

Cheers honey :-D Didn't realise you were there or I would have come and had a chat to you, ah well maybe another time.

You going to E38? How low are you? I've had 7.5x15 ET25 with no problems - Where does it scrub?

What happened to that other set you had? I like you plate btw! :-D

God yes I am, will be going on the Friday afternoon and staying 'till the Sunday.

I'm about 60-65mm, it scrubs on the outside edge of the tyre on the rear section (by the bumper) of the arch :?

Yeah I like it too, some people think it's a bit chavvy, but it's a bit of fun so I don't really care if people don't like it :-p

i had same issues mate, running 15x7 at the back and the edge of the tyre sticks out further than the arch, (not the tread mind so they're legal ;) ) so yeah without rolling you are arches or getting some stretched rubber on i can see you having issues with the 8's

Anyone else?

joe m8 i wouldnt worry if u are running 194/40's on a 8" as the tyre will stretch and should be ok u might get little rubbing but wouldnt think to much! depends how stiff you are coilovers are...

not the same but am running 14 by 8's et30 on a 195/45!! and the arch goes over my tyre easy

My coilovers are pretty stiff so that should help. 195/40’s should be ok on the 8’s right? I’ve seen the stretch and it doesn’t seem that extreme to me?

I can play around with the adaptors but I’d prefer not to! I could make the ET on the wheels 37.3 or 32.3 by using 15mm/20mm
