had my sub etc put in today

Featured Replies

i dropped my cr off to get my sub, amp, and 2 rear speakers put in today, went to collect it, and they dont have an alpine sub (i got a sub+amp comb) so they've put a kenwood sub in. and i asked him what is best and he said they're both the same really, jsut the alpine is in a prettier box..

but what make is better, Alpine or Kenwood?

cheers

hmmmm, without seeing spec's of the 2 hard to say, but if you asked for Alpine and got Kenwood I'd kicked off to be fair

I'd have thrown a riot..Alpine built quality is good on all there subs. Without specs its difficult to tell.

Without specs it is hard to tell for sure but generally speaking from experience Alpine has the better build and sound quality. I suppose at the lower price range there isn't that much in it but from experience the more you spend the more 'in front' the Alpine will go! (if that makes sense!)

Well the Alpine has a less chance of blowing due to the extra 100rms (depends on you are amp really). The main thing on a sub i'd say is the lowest frequency it can handle, the kenwood does 30hz but alpine may be lower?

Aso, if you are into brand names n such then remember kenwood make kettles. lol

if u paid the same price that u would have if u had the Alpine then i would definately complain.

If it was me i would always want the alpine. My reason is i get fed up of seeing chavved up saxo's and 106's with kenwood sunstrips. Poor reason i know but who cares...

i only got the kenwood sub as a spare as they didnt have an alpine sub at the time. but obviously i want the best for what I've paid, but i think i'll get the alpine one as everything else is alpine.. i cant find anymore details on the alpine sub, will have a browse in the net

cheers

I'd agree with that!

My whole Install is Alpine and the quality is Top Notch!

I'd complain if it were me! ill always Compare Alpine better above most makes on the market!

Did they ask you first or just install the Kenwood one and then tell you? Its would have really pissed me off if they had just gone ahead and done it.

they just done it, but its only a sub box.. and not one of thse fancy custom made job's. so its easy to swap, i would rather have a spare sub than not to have a sub atall until friday. I'm not pissed of with them. i jsut wanted to no wether to keep the kenwood or get my alpine, gonna get my alpine though. i need to make some kind of speaker pods for the front. as everything is at the back.

how much you got to spend, you can get alot more for your money 2nd hand from talkaudio.co.uk ;) But then it depends what kind of amp you have to power the sub.

250 watt amp i think, I'm not after anything stupid, i jut wanted a lbit of bass and decent speakers for a nice sound. I'm hapyp with how it is now, but will put 2 speakers in the front when i can make some decent pods for them to put in.

kenwood are poor

alpine are ok

but there are much better subs around for the money RE, oz audio, pbx, loads that are proven

the key to the sub is the box it's in ;)
