What Tires? Please Help!!!!

Featured Replies

hello all. I'm new on here and need some advice. i have a mk3 1991 polo gt coupe. its currently on standard steel wheels. I'm very soon to order the 80mm lowering kit and the lower top caps from jackson tuning. i love stupidly low cars and as a result will be setting the suspension at its very lowest setting. my problem is that i have a set of p-slot alloy wheels on the way and need to know the lowest profile tire i can fit. it needs to be as stretched and as lower profile as possible to help with the major clearance problems I'm gonna have but need your advice on which size to go for.

any help will be much appreciated as i haven't a clue what size i need

Cheers

Dave

I'd just go for a set of uni-royal rain sports 195/45/14 best tyre iv ever had.

you wont get any stretch on a set of p-slots, but i dont think they do a lower profile than a 45

in a 14 inch tyre.

fair play. sounds good to me. what sort of price do they go for?

195 is very wide for a 90mm drop under those narrow front arches.. 14's are a popular enquiry on this car at the moment, check the other threads for all the suggestions.

If these wheels are 6j wide, then it is posible to get a tiny ammount of stretch actually.

This is a 155,55,14 tyre on a 6j rim...

I think that one of these tyres with out the little rim protection would show a better stretch aswell.

Peace

Personally I'd go for 195/45s. But you may need to roll the arches to do that.
