It's written up on Uk-Polos. Hold the reset mile counter before putting ignition on, turn ignition on and wait for it to flash --- after that the Oil Service is reset (let go), to reset the Service Check do that again.

Nice, i will have to try that, my inspection light has been driving me mad for months, buggers at the garage forgot to set it, i shall just have to count the miles until the next service

tried it this evening. I got very frustrated with this, until i realised you meant, put keys in, press and hold trip reset button, then turn engine on. sat there for ages just turning the key round and round :D

I have this problem its been bugging me for ages 1st it was th service light then it got serviced they reset it then straight away the oil service light was on :( il have a go at this now and see if i can get it off

John

i see you gt problems with you are service reset light ... i may be wrong but i know it was actually written how to reset it in the car handbook that comes with the car from the dealer ... it said something like " the mechanic at VW service centeres will carry out the service interval light reset by doing the following ..." and thn it was bullet pointed ... thats how i did my polo 97 and golf mk3 96 lol .....

alternatively just get one of those reset tools of ebay ..... thats what i have needed for my newest 1998 as the trip button on the speedo dont work so the only alternative is the reset tool!!
