Hi,

Recently while driving at any speed my car has developed a strange scraping metal-on-metal sound when I turn the wheel more than 3/4 turn in both directions. I've had the car up on stands and cannot work out what the problem is, I cant see any obvious signs of rubbing anywhere.

Any ideas what this can be?

The car is standard, not lowered etc.

check your cv boots are ok. if split will cause cv joint to dry out and cause a metal on metal sound as they won't have any lubrication

Cheers, its not the CV joint, boots are ok, and its the wrong noise, cv joints click rather than scrape. Was the first thing i checked to rule it out. Seems to be only coming from the drivers side front wheel... Only seems to make the sound when under load, ie when the car is on the ground...

My car made a metal on metal scraping sound after i lowered it turning full lock, i found out it was the inner edge of the wheel scraping on the suspension strut. but your car is standard, ?

Mine did this.. Worked out it was the metal brake protector thing. Kinda like a shield from stones and shit. It got bent somehow and was scraping on the brake when I turned.

Yeah same as inside of wheel scraping on the coil ...

I have also had the problem with the dust sheild bending too ..

check for any damage on you are wish bone and bushs !

Also, check your wheel bearing doesn't have too much play in it.
