Hey guys, just in the process of gettin the polo back on the road and just trying to sort out the tunes!

Basically some evil person decieded to break into my car some while back and steal my sub and 6x9s :( WANKERS! lol

When they did so, the inconsiderate people riped out the end of my phono cable so I had to replace it!

So....when down the scrapy I managed to locate an intact cable which I got home and duly installed...

First of all I pluged the lead into the back of my stereo and the other end into my amp and everything turned on as usual...cranked up the tunes and nothing happend... thought hmm this is strange, checked all my connections and re set the stereo... stil nothing happend....hmm checked the fuse, in tact but changed it anyway...reset and stil nothing...whilst the music was stil playin I then started to take the leads out and all of a sudden it kicked in...and after playin around a bit realised that if the leads were half in half out they appeared to work...infact as long as the outer circle of the plug wasnt in contact it worked fine....

I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on my situation and maybe give me a remidy to sorting this situation out as obv cant drive around with lead half in and half out!

outer bit of the rca leads is just earth

sounds like the rca/phono cable is dodgy, check the insulation resistance between the inner and outer part of the cable.it sounds like you have a short

check your earth mate.

you are earthing it when u were putting audio cables on the metal.

had this problem with my missus' amp.

make sure the earth is on pure metal. wont work through paint.

did you get a phono lead from the scrap yard?? .... it must be that thats the problem... its shorting somewhere down the line... i say try this one .. from maplin electronics - code is UZ47
