I have picked up and nice set of vintage Fondmental 2600 and they are in a need of a good refurb, the stats are

4x100

VW centre bore

14" diameter

6" wide

ET 33

I was wondering if you guys could give me some ideas what i should do to them as i dont just want them refurbed and polished, was thinking of putting a bit of colour on them.

My car currenly looks like this

any help will be great

If anyone is good with photoshop and wants to create their ideas that would be cool

heres what i would do:

1 remove any loose paint with either a very soft wire wheel brush on the end of a drill (you can get palstic impregnated ones which are supposed to protect the metal) or get them sand/bead blasted. a palm sander or orbital sander is great for cleaning up the outer lip too!

2. primer the whole wheel

3. spray the outer rim silver (you could polish but I've found it to be high maintenance!)

4. mask the outer rim I've found electrical tape very good for this as you can shape it round corners better than masking tape (make sure you let the outer rim dry for a week before doing this!)

5. paint the centres in body colour

6. remove the tape from the outer rim

7. laquer the whole whell with lots of fine even coats.

fit some low pros, put them on the car and admire!

They're proper spiragraph jobs - five triangles. You need to flatter those spokes.

I'd make them look like 6x14 alleycats. Easy to do - paint the whole wheel gloss black,then get them diamond cut/lathe turned (try refurbishers and engineers/machinists for a price on a turn),then laquer them. Refurbers will want a bully to do each wheel from scratch,but should be persuadable to just cut a ready-painted wheel for a reasonable fee.

If you wanna be really clever,you could actually get the very inner part of the spokes,and casting for the centre cap bolt,cut off with a lathe before painting the wheel bringing the bolt cup out to the face of the wheel in a far smoother shape,so as to get the wheel looking like it was not designed to have a centre cap.

yeah spray em complety black then sand off the face urself and laquer over the top would look hot

Have them painted the same colour as your car and then have the faces and lips diamond cut.

What do the centre caps looks like?

i dont have any centre caps at the mo
