Will I void the warranty? I've now become the slowest car in the house. We've got 4 polos, O.K. two are 's for sale, but one's being replaced by a 100bhp Seat Ibiza Reference Sport.

The car's on a 3 year lease, so I'm guessing they *may* find out when I give it back to them.

i wouldnt if i were you cos it will almost certainly void your warranty

Probably but it just depends on what your particular warranty policy says. Might be just as well to ask the company you lease it from.

But if you can get a piggyback type chip then it'd be pretty easy to remove it when you return the car for any services etc....

as long as the chip only changes the fuel/ignition maps theres no way they'd find out unless they suspected a problem and managed to cross reference the map they find in the car compared to a stock one... thats assuming theres no physical work needed as that would be easier to spot (ie. bits of new solder, new chip, etc)

So an ECU remap would be fine right?? This doesnt matter in my case as my warantees 5-6 yrs gone! lol... 1.4 tdis handle ecu remaps really well, some have claimed upto 110hp with a simple remap (thats includes a dyno printout btw). It costs a little though!

my mates Golf 25th Anni PD150 was re-chipped while still under warrenty

i'm pretty sure it was done by Star Performance & they do a "re-chip" in a box that you plug into the diagnostic socket

it swapped the standard map for the modded map.........and stored the standard map in the little box

when it comes to service time you plug the box in and it swaps to maps back over & the ecu has no memory of ever been chipped
