VW POLO 1.4CL 1998 S(reg)

My right indicator arrow on the dashboard has stopped working. The left arrow works fine and all the lights work fine outside of the car. When you put the hazard lights on, again the lights on the outside work fine and the left indicator arrow on the dash board flashes.

I've taken the unit out hoping it was just a bulb gone wrong but it looks like an LED welded to a circut board. Is there any way I can fix this without getting VW to look as they are charging me nearly £500 to fix. They have told me the whole circuit board unit needs replacing, which I find a bit crazy!

Any help would or ideas would be great.

to be quite honest mate as long as the indicator on the outside of the car works u dont need to worry. just the fact its annoying not being there.

does the clicker sound still work when its on???

Just find someone who can solder, and replace the LED, 2 minute job

Thanks for that. Yeh, the clicker sound does work but its failed its MOT purely on the lack of a flashing light!

Have taken the car to another garage and they have said they cant fix it either which makes me wonder if it is just as easy as soldering on a new LED?!

you could just look for somebody breaking a <1998 polo an replace the whole clock unit...isnt worth that much

although the mileage will be wrong ooer

I could be wrong, but I thought a failed indicator light was an MOT failure item?
