Right i have another little mk1, i must be mad. The orange one isnt finished yet. I went to look at it for a few parts for the orange one, mainly wheel centres.

It has been owned by one lady all its life. She sold her mothers house in 1980 and brought this little car with the money. It has full history including original order form and bill of sale at £3195.00. It has lived in the same area all its life, slept in the same garage, mot'd at 2 garages up until when the last mot ran out. She stopped driving it sometime in 98 and the car ran out of mot in june 98, it was registered june 80, so near enough 18 years to the day. It has been sat in her garage until now. A new battery and some petrol in the carb got it running after 10 years! it still had 10 year old petrol in it.

It has 3 sets of keys, original number plates with dealer name on, broucher, hand books, etc. It is a Polo N so only has basic trim, but it does still have a working original VW Motorola head unit.

It is far to good for me to use as part and i think its great, so i'll see what i'll do with it.

It was running fine last night, the ladies grandson thought i was nuts at trying to drive it an hour home after not moving for 10 years, well it was fine, even all the lights work. I put some fresh oil in just incase, new petrol and i was off, well for a little bit until one of the hose attachments went and it leaked water while sat in Asda car park (I'm not an asda man, the girlfriended need the loo :-D ). So it ended up being towed home, dark country lanes and she'd never towed a car before, but it was all fine and sat with no problems at all.

Engine- 895cc with 4 speed box

Chassis- Std

Brakes- Std

Interior- Std, low back dog tooth check seats

Exterior - Std N trim, as in not much

Wheels- Std steels with centre caps

The sills need some patching and its had 2 cowboy plates put on it, a few other rust spots and seriously faded paint.

Here's a little snap i took of it sat where its living at the moment , oh yeah i forgot to say that i have no space at home so its living at the back of my flats for the moment, which i'm not happy about but will have to do for a while. It also means i cant work on it much

I went to to mow the grass today and check out my Florida in the day light. This is the first time i've seen it in the day light :-)

Its really not bad at all.

It came complete with a 1950's windbreak which i shall be using , 2 1950's suitcase's and one 60's one. It has an old steering wheel lock and a really old hoover in the boot

It came with a car cover and i even found the original tax disc holder from Pooles VW which matches the plates. I'm gutted that her grandsons chucked out all the tax discs she kept for it too . I forgot to say it has 62k on the clock, a nice genuine 62 :-D

Check out the cobwebs, thats after it being towed for 30 odd miles too.

The worst bit of rust is the front wing. There is a dent in the front bumper, the bottom of the rear arches arent great (but they are brand new compared to how the orange ones were). It has had 2 cow boy plates put on the back of the sills and some dodgy paint in places. You can see the OG paint as its slightly darker and cleans up better.

All in all she isnt bad, i'll give her a good clean and a service. I've already done the plugs today and the girlfriend put some T-cut on the front wing to see how it would come up and blow me it shines like a shiney thing. I'll see how it comes up once i've cleaned it.

My 895cc Polo has spung a leak.

It needs a new water manifold. If you follow the bottom tube down from the expansion tank you will find it.

It is held on by 2 x 10mm nuts on the far left which can be got at with a long socket arm and the other with a spanner. All that needs to be moved is the air box.

I was going to fix mine, but it is too far gone really.

Please help as thats all i need to get her running.

I'm looking for a seat from a mk1 polo with dog tooth black and white checkered seats.

I could do with the back of a rear bench and mint drivers seat to replace mine, but any old tatty thing will do so i can chop off the material and trim mine.

Thanks to Tom W i now have the water manifold, so cheers man :-D , next step is to fit it, but that wont be for a few weeks.

The water manifold is on and she runs like a dream, a bit of a service is next before i take her out on the road.

Took it for its MOT and it runs like a dream.

It ran perfect before, but just to be safe i changed the plugs, oil, filter, fuel filter just to be safe. Its first trip was about a 50 mile round trip and it was as good as gold, well apart from the fan playing up (the heater fan, not the rad one).

It failed on a worn cv boot and front brakes, easy to fix and bloody good after not moving for so long B)

She's also rock solid underneath

Wow finding 8mm brake discs was not an easy task, but i think i have some coming my way in the post.

If i wasnt such a fussy git i would have put later brakes on it, but the car is so original and i want it to stay that way.

Its got cold and i couldnt leave it out in the cold so it is back at my house wrapped up all warm and dry. I've run out of room at home now, i need a bigger house :)

Nice example. Reassuring to know it's solid underneath, as sorting rust on outer panels must be a doddle in comparison. Also nice to see a one which is to stay 'original' too.

Personally I think you're mental for sticking with the Girling brakes, they scare me to death. Brake upgrade and rebuild was the first thing I did.

The new discs fitted perfectly, so cheers to Adam for sorting them out.

She now has new front disc and pads, i checked all the calipers and the pistons run smoothly.

It stops fine and the little brakes are fine for the monster 895 :)

I also fitted a new rocker gasket, repainted it black, i've also sand blated the oil cap, fuel filler cap and the battery clip.

Fitted a new cv boot, cleaned and re greased it before it went on.

It now has a years MOT and drives perfectly, i love it. Its so nice to just trundle about in, not that its being used in this horrible weather.

I thopught i'd post this here as well as on my orange thread.

I took it for a spin today, its great and i love driving it.

I'm sure its sad that i find it good fun. My mates think i'm bonkers as my last car did 0-60 in high 3's and the polo sits nicely at 55mph :)

It still may have to be sold, really not sure yet. May go because of space (cheers for offering to store it Tom) or maybe even to help fund a ring for the missus.

It looks like i will have to sell the florida :( as i need the space and just cant bring myself to part with the orange one or the ghia.

I even thought about selling the ghia, but the other half said i was mad and would regret it after it took me so long to find.

Anyway, my little blue beast was sold, but the chap had money issues so i still have this awesome little car.

I have managed to find a wing (not that it really needs one), an interior (when i work out how to collect it as its MILES away) and some arch repair panels (which i only need a little bit from).

So i should have all the bits to make this amazing in my posession soon. So then its a csae of, do i fit them all, paint it and have it as an nawesome stocker or still sell it. My problem is still space, so if someone makes me the right offer at any point then it will probably go, much to my dissapointment.
