When I was between cars I got a short term insurance on my mum's policy (churchill) but some companies offer short term insuring in their own right. ecarinsurance.com have a pay as you drive policy and short term policies so I can't see that being a problem. Not sure how it would work on your old car though as the new owner will need to insure it and may have trouble if it is already insured. Its worth talking to your insurance company and seeing how much they charge to cancel the policy. I think I paid £40 in the end to cancel the old one, but this may vary from company to company. Hope this helps :)

In a word... NO..

You can't insure the same car on more than one policy.. I.e. If your still insured and the new owner gets insured both insurances are void due to a conflict of interest or something along those lines...

i c, so if i get a 16v i probably going to lose my year no claims just for the sake of 3 months then or can a company carry it on??

cant u just try a different insurance company that will insure you on a 16v?

Yes pretty much so... No other company will carry it on.

I had a thought about this last night...

The only option I can see is....

Sell your car, buy this valver and buy a heap o shit 50 quid car. Insure that for sweet FA on your policy for the next 3 months untill it expires and get your 1 yrs no claim. You could also insure the valver too on your mums policy untill then. Its long winded but your only choice next to loosing the no claims.
