Cleaning Engine bay!

Featured Replies

Hey,

I'm planning to give my engine and bonnet a good clean, and was wondering what products to use? Also any good methods to give the best results?

from guides I've seen, the stuff to use is gunk.

Take the car for a run to get the engine bay nice and warm, pop the bonnet and spray gunk everywhere, then leave for a bit, have a pint or something, then get busy with a small brush/tooth brush and then wash away the crap with a jet wash after covering all the electrics paying special attention to the dizzy cap and coil pack ect.

as above^

would also recommend gunk,

but i would use a normal hose pipe cos jet washes can do nasty things with your electrics

Cheers lads,

Seems like a lot of people recommend Gunk, trouble is I need to find some!

Gunk Ultra

thats what i use... comes in a trigger spray bottle

Halfords stock it

Comma do their own brand of de-greaser and its really good, failing that i would also recommend Gunk.

I used to valet, we used some stuff called TANGO it's a sort of all in one degreaser and polish. Autosol for any shiny bits and silicone dressing for black plastics.
