My valver has central locking and i thought they all came with it. I'd get the central locking pump looked at - Its accessable though the boot behind where the first aid kit should be.

Looking at the kit i think you will need to buy both to make the boot pop work.

check to see if it has a central locking pump like jimmy said. if its there you'll need a new one best place is a scrappy as VW charge massive amounts for them new iirc

yeh its there unconnected the electronics and there is a green water like mark on the lead doesnt look good.

do they just die or do i have a chance at saving it what goes wrong with them is it fluid or air system ?

Air system i think

i made mine work again for about 2 weeks by putting it in the airing cupboard but it gave up eventually! best things finding one at the scrappy and putting it in a sandwich bag to keep the water away from it!

is this just a srtaight replacement? does thevacuum system need to be re set up in any way

take the pump out, it looks like its water damage , its happened to 2 on my car now. take the pump apart and look at the circuit board of its green n fooked in there, u need a new pump.

wen replaceing the pump make sure the wire connectors are facing the front of the car not the back and wrap the pump up in a bag of sumkind so water cant get to it. silly VW!!

I've also put clear solicone around my rear light to STOP any water getting inside my car :)
