Hastings direct...I'm NOT PLEASED!

Featured Replies

"Sorry Mr Cox, we're cancelling your policy but reimbursing you £540"

"We'll certify you for 7 months no claims bonus which will hopefully bring down a new quote"

"This is due to OUR underwriters not being able to insure 19/20 year olds"

Smells all a bit bullshit

I haven't had any claims, my policy isn't fraudulent and they knew my age / correct DOB from day 1.

A new quote was £1300 on my current, a bit more than £540...

No insurance company does "7 months NCB"

I'm truly fucking pissed off. Advice?

I don't have advice as such fella but you're right about no such thing as 7months ncb. I insured my cabrio as a second car for two years through Elephant and i took their special "12months for the price of 10" deal it was advertised as a years no claims bonus after just 10 months. So i left them after 20 months and they only offered me ONE years NCB! Tos**rs! :@

It's got to the point where I no longer care about my Polo.

I now completely disregard speed limits - just keep accelerating until forced to slow down / stop

I live on a road with speed bumps and now do about 65 down it.

I just couldnt give a fuck anymore.

I might call HR at work - it's really got to me.

Old plan of action was

Insure Renault 5 @ £890--> change to Polo for £180 extra (current) --> gain 1 year NCB --> upgrade to 51-Y Polo 1.4 Match (insurance was about £900)

Now it's

Insure Renault 5 @ £890--> change to Polo for £180 extra (current) --> lose 1 year NCB through no fault of my own --> get £540 back --> pay out ANOTHER £760 --> keep current Polo for another year when I should be driving new and shiny Match

I'm so annoyed

Wankerrrrr

read your policy carefully, maybe theres something that will make them honour it? if not CAB for some help?

worse come to worse, insist on a full 1 yr NCB?

I'd have gone fucking mad!!

They have gone into a written contract with you and they can not cancel it without being peanalised. Kick up a big fuss!

I'd go crazy!

Sounds like their policies are just as shit as there adverts!

call the men in white coats, this guys gone loopy :retard:

Isnt it supposed to be the other way around? When someone doesnt have insurance, they drive extra carefully - and then rag it about when they're covered, due to their new found legal protection?

That'd make more sense.

Hi,

i was insured with hastings direct for my ford escort 1.3, hastings was by far the cheapest at £1100 (with 1 claim and 3points in my first year or driving) eventually i got my self a new car, my polo 1.4l, hastings had told me as it was a newer car even though the engine size was bigger, so of course i jumped, then 3weeks ago, i gotta call from hastings telling me they was going to withdraw my insurance as i was under quoted and haddnt been patubg enough, after a while of shouting etc i managed to ask "the chap" as i haven't been paying enough was i still insured and he replied that he didnt think so! as you can imagine i wasnt happy, also 3weeks after they told me they was going to refund my money i received...and wait for it a cheque!

are they arse wipes or what?

Yep. I've currently got a quote off Quinn direct (definately worth looking at) for £1257 on my 1.0L

Main thing I was fucked off with was losing 7 months no claims through no fault of my own. Hastings said that to continue for another 5 months to get 1 year NCB would cost me a further £300

I told them that they should pay it, they said no, so I'm going elsewhere.

quite right, i got a quote from direct line £1300tpft £1600fully comp, cars work more than £300 ( i hope!) so to me made more sense to go fully comp. 19 year old on a 1.4l stereo mods alloys all declared!!

Stereo mod declared?!

I run 1 x 600W amp + sub + £160 Clarion HU and haven't declared any of it. On old ins, you were covered for up to £750 on ICE

This one is 10% of vehicle value (£100 in this case) but once the facias gone, it looks sub standard anyway and the sub + amp are hidden so all good really

i changed all the standerd speakers, had tv's in the headrest and a dvd/cd player installer, including sub n amp, costs as much as what the car did.

i did do a quote without declaring it and it wasnt any cheaper though?

Quite easy. Build standard PC using ITX parts instead of ATX parts. Bare in mind what the PC will be used for. Mine would just needed to run Windows XP, a media app, link to an external HDD and play MP3s - so a top spec PC obviously is overkill.

A 1GHZ P3, 512MB ram, 20gb HDD, working sound, few usb ports will do - you can probably buy one that someones chucking out of these for about £30 on ebay

Now, take out the usual power supply and replace it with a specialist inverter - these cost about £60-£80. Because PCs run on 12V max anyway, you obviously dont need a 240V supply. The inverter will also switch 8V up to 12V, so if your car cuts out and you have to restart, the PC wont cut out.

Most touchscreens designed to work with PCs use standard VGA in and a USB connection for the touchscreen. Folding screen / DIN types don't always have this luxury...

If you do get a folding screen type with a touchscreen with a USB port but w/o VGA and only composite in, this can also be done with a converter box (around £40) for VGA --> composite

Touchscreens cost in the region of £180-£250

The rest is wiring in your current equipment to interface with the PC.

Not difficult by anymeans. A bit time consuming due to all the wiring involved but as I said, I just can't be bothered.
