So my sub is on n off due to the RCA connection on my Directed Audio amp. The RCA lead is fine, i've tried with another. Basically if I hold the RCA lead in the amp at the right angle it will work.

When i'm driving along might hit a bump and I will get bass again, hit another bump and its gone. I've taken the casing off the amp and everything looks brand new.

Just wondered if anyone's ever encountered this?

It's definately the RCA connection, sub and rca lead is fine.

Check to see if it is a dry solder joint it may be broken joint so dab a bit of resolder on to it it happened with mine as the pressure of pulling and pushing the rca leads can lead to this happening or if it is not the amp is it the rca at the back of the cd player which it could be aswell

i had a similar problem, but the wires were shorting out inside the box.....

Thanks guys. I did take the cover off the amp n it all looked good as far as I could see First off I pulled the HU out and took a look but seemed ok too. It's really strange.

E.g if i'd just move the RCA lead it would work.

There's no way this could be caused due to bad earth is there?

But to be a dodgy connection on the plug on the sub from what you've said. Try reflowing the solder on it, if that doesn't work, nip down maplins and spend a quid on a new plug.

The sub is fine I think, as if I hold the rca lead applying pressure to the connection to the amp it will work forever. I've tried tieing the rca lead to create that pressure but doesn't work.

Think i'll just have to take the amp apart again or connect some other speakers to it to test and also check out the earth as I know it's not great, never had probs before though.

check the back of the rca input on amp circuit board it may be the tiniest crack to do this if so re dab a bit of solder back on it and it should cure the problem as they are not that strong as to me that is what it is sounding like
