175 will be maximum, with 185 stretching nicely and being a bit more reasonable to drive. At these widths, you wanna get it down to 50% - if not 45. There's a valid argument for 195x45s but i dont think that'll give you the look you're after. Try http://www.mytyres.co.uk

so 185/50/15s will be the safest option,is that what your saying? are there any certain makes that look best stretched?

165/50 Bridgestone Potenzas would give you a big stretch and although not officially safe (I wouldn't do it either) they do look mint and still grip well according to Kam (heartagram) who had been doing his best to get some 165/50s to pop off a 7.5" rim!

dunlop sp 2000 185/50/14 just look normal on a 7" rim

I'm going for some 165/50/15 myself on a 7J rim

They look sweet ..

Hopefully can get a set of bridgestone potenzas as they have been trried and tested .

anyone got pics and tyre/rim width details etc?

My wheels are on 15x7 Toby :D

175/50 is probably your best bet. obviously its not 'safe' to stretch tyres but 175/50 shouldn't give anything to stretched or fragile.

 Dunno where that extra half inch came from... Wishful thinking?

Thats what your mum said

i run 165 50 r15 daily.

they look the business, but if you are into giving the car a bit of a ragging now and then, then these are not for you.

I've just taken a set of 165/50/15 off my 7" wheels, as they were just a little bit too harsh a ride for my girlfriend. I used Bridgestone Potenzas and they looked wicked! I would say they're perfect if you really want the look, but a little difficult to live with if you're doing loads of miles. I've got some 175/55/15 Conti ecos on order, I'm hoping they will be a little bit softer. If anyone wants my Bridgestones, they're only 2 weeks old, and have done about 500 miles! I'd take £100 for them.

Cheers

Dave

I've got conti-sports on mine, ill let you know how they are once fitted.

PmSent to the dude with the Bridgestone Potenzas

165's look sick on 7j rims and seem to hold up well. Take a look at Kam's lupo, the zender's look sick with bridgestones on them.

Heres a rough pic of my 165/50 Potenza's on a 7x15!

Give an Awsome Stretch!

In case anyone's interested, I had my Contis fitted today, and they look crap! 175/55/15 is definately not the way forward. The garage ruined my Bridgestones taking them off too so we'll be having words! On the plus side, it means we'll be fitting new Bridgestones soon, so I got my way in the end!

doesnt test-richie run 165/45s on his porsche wheels????

I'm about to get some 7x15s for my mk1 polo so i need super-tiny tyres, are 165/50s really ok? i never drive the car hard, by the way.

ps... has anyone got any side-on pics of 165/50 bridgestones on a 7j rim? I've seen what the stretch looks like, now i need to see the profile!

I have just had some 165/50/15s .. Bridgstone Potenzas put onthe car .

I was previously running 195/45/15's ...

The bridgestones havnt changed the grip levels of my car at all .. Infact it makes it alot better in the wet .

The profile of the tyre is more like a 45 it dosent rub at all on the wheel arch .

The only problem i encouterd was having to push the rear wheels out as it made my wheels look thin .

All in all perfect for a 7J Rim .. Iff they havnt popped of mine they wont pop of yours .. I have given it some aggresive driving to test em and nothing has gone wrong .

I've seen pictures of Daves 165/45s and they don't look lower profile than 165/50 Bridgestones. Dunno, not a big fan of those tyres Dave is using. I dunno what size wheels hes running up from but if they are 7's there quite wide 165/45s imo!

I'm in da Bridgestone posse

Bridgestone Masssssivvvvveeee!!!!!!!

I told a lie i am running 165 / 50 / 15 on a 6j Rim
