mk1 golf rollcage into mk1 polo

Featured Replies

i recently bought a raceland alloy rollcage off the bay. its for a mk1 golf and I'm putting it in my mk1 polo. i trial fitted it today, and its slightly too tall. needs about 2 inches removing from the main section. has anyone else modded a cage to fit a different car, or am i being a fool?

If all you need to do is move the feet up, then go for it. Can you weld to a decent standard? It's your neck on the line. Would I do it? Yes, I trust my welding.

Ooops, just spotted that it's alloy. Can you TIG? I can't but these cages are no use as rollcages anyway, they're only for show.

I'd sell it and buy a proper cage for a mk1 polo, they are available.

You could chop it and mark it up,and take it to your local engineers for them to weld up. Shouldnt cost much.

As above, friendly TIG welder needed.

i only want a cheap alloy show cage, i couldnt find any for a mk1 polo. the only ones i could find for mk1 polos were weld in, 6 point motorsport spec ones. very expensive and unnecesary for my 895cc beast which never goes above the speed limit and generally gets treated like a baby!

erm... i need a CHEAP alloy cage. i spoke to venom (uk weichers agent) and a mk1 polo cage is £400 plus vat and delivery. and I've heard that if you order something from wiechers, you can be waiting a looooooooong time.
