As above is there any insurer's that allow you to insure a car based on a month to month basis ? As in you dont have to agree for the whole 12 months you can just pay them at the begining of each month etc etc....

you can cancel any insurance polocy whenever you want. You should get a refund for any remaining months (uif you've paid in full up front). I dare say that will work out a fair bit cheaper than any company who offer insurance on a month-by-month basis.
