Hi guys,

I'm sure that its been said on the forum but i couldnt find anything using the search!

I have a mk2 polo squareback (87 D) and have just bought the suspension and brakes set up from a G40.

The brake lines on the G40 brakes i got have been cut so i need new hoses, however i looked on GSF and for brake hoses it doesnt have G40 specific ones, so are the brakes lines the same on the G40 as the mk2/3's?

Also is the suspension a straight fit? I have the complete shocks/springs with carriers, hub, calipers, discs etc and track control arms all connected so I'm guessing i just disconnect the track rod end and arb from the strut, remove old and put on new?

I have done all suspension/bushes etc on my corrado so dont have any issues doing the work, just dont know much about polos and what parts are different.

Oh and whilst I'm here, is it difficult to add a brake servo? If its too much hassle i wont bother as the cars only a daily hack so will put up with stamping the peddle but itf its a simple job and a servo can be got cheap i may give it a go.

yeah the brakes pipes are the same. I'd recommend you to fit braided ones while you are doing it, they give a firmer pedal.

suspension is simply bolt-on, no worries there.

Fitting a servo is too much effort unless you can find one of the old BRM metro servo conversion kits (not very likely). A mk3 servo simply wont fit without cutting part of the bulkhead and welding in a mk3 section. Not worth it in my opinion, just enjoy the extra feel you get through the pedal without a servo in the way. Another option would be a remote servo such as that found in mk1 golfs, not simply bolt-on but I don'#t think they require too much effort to get working. You don't get that much feel through them though what with all the linkage involved.

Cool thanks for the info mate. I think i will leave the servo idea! I'm sure the G40 brakes will be better anyway, i dont need amazing brakes as its just going to be a uni ride but just want something better than what its got now!!

on this note, do you know.. hayesey... which braided hoses fit??!?!
