De-badging

Featured Replies

Hi, I want to de-badge the POLO lettering from my mk5. I was just wondering how you would do it. I was thinking heating up with a hairdryer, or using some meths and scraping off with a credit card. Would it leave a mark from where the lettering was taken off?

Thanks

i debadged my 'polo' lettering from the back of my 6n2 by using hot water.

1) pour hot (not boiling) water down the rear window so the water washes over the Polo lettering, this softens the glue

2) using cotten or dental floss carefully cut away at the back of the polo lettering

3) once polo is removed it will leave bits of glue on the boot. i used autoglym tar remover to get rid of it.

4) polish your boot to match the colour up

this left no marks on my boot, hope this helps

Thanks for your help, what do you mean by cutting away at the lettering with cotton?

he means going in behind the lettering with a sawing action, fishing wire works as well.

You can, having used hot water on the panel, pull the letters away with a spoon. Its best to avoid the metal touching the paint though, with your finger in between acting as the pivot.
